About

Shirly Pinto Kadosh

Shirly Pinto Kadosh is a groundbreaking figure in Israeli society. The first deaf Member of Knesset in Israel, a public advocate for equality, accessibility, and human rights – and someone who acts out of a deep vision for a more inclusive and just society.

During her tenure in the 24th Knesset, she led significant legislation and initiatives in the areas of accessibility, inclusive education, and the rights of people with disabilities. Even after her term ended, Shirly continues to serve the public voluntarily – as an international public diplomacy ambassador in sign language for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Diaspora Affairs.

Shirly brings to every public stage an extraordinary life story, a different perspective, and the ability to bring the periphery to the center.

Lectures – Leadership, Resilience, and Social Change

In her lectures, Shirly shares her personal and public journey – from childhood in the deaf community, through her life as a mother to deaf children, to the heart of decision-making centers in Israel. She speaks candidly yet with rare depth about accessibility, identity, legislation, community resilience, and what leadership means in an era of crises.

The lectures are suitable for business, public, educational, and security organizations, and inspire every audience – in Israel and around the world.

"Purple Homefront"

The National Program for Emergency Preparedness for People with Disabilities

Following the October 7th attack, Shirly Pinto Kadosh initiated "Purple Homefront" – a national project to strengthen the civilian response in emergency situations, with an emphasis on populations with disabilities and people who are sometimes left behind.

The project includes a series of practical programs:

  • Training local authorities for adapted action during emergencies
  • Making shelters and protected spaces accessible
  • Developing accessible alert systems for deaf, visually impaired, and individuals with special needs
  • On-site assistance for people with disabilities in conflict-affected areas
  • Establishing mutual aid communities to strengthen local resilience

A key goal of "Purple Homefront" is to develop a digital platform for authorities, enabling needs identification and response coordination in real-time – simply, accessibly, and efficiently.

The model has received broad professional recognition and was also presented in the British Parliament as an innovative solution for civilian crises.

Because in times of emergency – no one should be left behind.
